Gambling regulatory bodies from across Southern Africa, including Botswana, Kenya, Swaziland and Tanzania, are expected to gather at the Sun City Resort in the North West for the Gaming Regulators Africa Forum.
The event, from November 17-21, will put a spotlight on the growing challenge of illegal gambling.
The Gaming Regulators Africa Forum is also a chance for gambling regulators to facilitate policy discussions, promote responsible gambling practices and combat fraud.
Acting CEO of North West Gambling Board, Boitumelo Qalinge, says: “The conference will be attended by various member states from different countries on the continent. Action is to be taken against illegal gambling. Illegal gambling is a big, big problem for the industry as it undermines the public trust and it deprives governments of critical revenue.”
He adds: “We aim to promote public awareness campaigns and give guidance to operators to promote self-exclusions and also to promote spending limits and also promote responsible play.”
