Over 200 new members from different political parties have joined the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) in the Mgayi area of Umzumbe Municipality on the South Coast of KwaZulu-Natal.

They were officially welcomed by IFP President Velenkosini Hlabisa, accompanied by local leaders.

The new members say they’ve joined the IFP because they believe it is the only party that can bring change.

New recruits, Mlungisi Dlamini and Nokuthula Mkhize have pledged to work hard for the IFP’s victory in next year’s local government elections.

“I decided to join the IFP because I believe this is the only party that can bring change or development. My previous party failed to develop us, and the roads are not in good condition.

“I left my party due to nepotism. For example, there’s a project next to my home, but nobody told us anything about it; instead, we see people working without our knowledge.”
