Suspended Deputy National Commissioner for Crime Detection Shadrack Sibiya appears before Parliament’s Ad Hoc committee probing corruption in the justice system on 13 October 2025.
National Coloured Congress MP Fadiel Adams says he will not hesitate to lay a criminal charge against suspended Deputy National Police Commissioner Lieutenant-General Shadrack Sibiya if allegations made about him are true.
The Madlanga Commission has heard a recorded conversation in which attempted murder accused, Vusimuzi ‘Cat’ Matlala confessed to paying Sibiya up to R1 million a month in cash.
Witness C, a detective attached to Gauteng counterintelligence operations, made the revelations at the Commission.
Adams spoke with SABC News outside the Cape Town Central Police Station.
“I am aware of the allegations, we are looking for proof, we are looking for something tangible to bring to SAPS. Secondly, if General Sabiya has done anything, somebody send me a document. I’ll lay the charge against him.”
On Tuesday, Adams laid perjury charges at the Cape Town Central police station against KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Lieutenant-General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi.
