A graphic calling for human trafficking to be stopped
Security Strategist and retired Interpol Ambassador Andy Mashaile says human trafficking syndicates are using people’s desperation for jobs by luring them into all sorts of illegal activities.
This comes after suspicious employment opportunities were advertised by social media influencers on TikTok, Instagram and other social media platforms targeting women between the ages of 18 and 22.
The Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO) warned South African women not to fall for unverified foreign job offers.
Mashaile has urged young people not be impressed with social media influencers displaying flashy lifestyle without concrete background.
He says, “Young ladies and young gentlemen, we have a responsibility to talk to them now, those who are little who are going to school, wait for the right time and the right time is when you are not in a hurry to be rich overnight. Verify, if you see this advert on social media as long as you cannot call that place, don’t submit your application. Verify with the South African embassy in that country.”- Reporting by Kholo Tefo.
