Housing backlog, rapid urbanisation to dominate IBT summit

Eradicating a critical housing backlog and dealing with rapid urbanisation will top the agenda of the Innovative Building Technologies (IBT) Summit starting in Johannesburg on Tuesday.

President Cyril Ramaphosa will address the two-day gathering, which seeks to advance Innovative solutions for the delivery of sustainable human settlements.

The meeting brings together government, the building and construction industry, academia, investors, and civil society organisations.

The objectives of the IBT Summit include strengthening policy integration for IBT within human settlements, fostering collaboration and investment between government, the private sector, and non-profit organisations, among others.

It will further promote IBTs as solutions for disaster-resistant and climate-resilient housing and ensure better preparedness for future crises.
