Hosi N’wamitwa II was pioneer in fight for women’s rights: Ramaphosa


President Cyril Ramaphosa says the late Valoyi traditional leader, Phylia N’wamitwa II made a major contribution in clarifying the rights of women in traditional societies and in the context of South Africa’s Constitution.

He was delivering the eulogy at the funeral service in Tzaneen in Limpopo of the late Valoyi traditional leader.

She passed away at a hospital in Johannesburg at the age of 85 and was accorded a Category Two Special Provincial Funeral.

Ramaphosa says Hosi N’wamitwa was a pioneer in the fight for women’s rights.

Additionally, Chairperson of the Limpopo House of Traditional Leaders, Hosi Pheni Ngove, earlier told mourners they would continue the legacy left by Hosi N’wamitwa II.

“Hosi N’wamitwa and other traditional leaders when they are doing positive thing to their community it brings back the status and dignity of our institutions and we will continue to emulate such kind of leaders in our midst,” says Ngove.
