High traffic volumes are expected to continue into the evening as holidaymakers make their way towards inland provinces from Durban and the coastal areas in KwaZulu-Natal.
The N3 Toll Concession has urged motorists to exercise caution as high traffic volumes may lead to congestion and delays.
The N3TC’s COO, Thania Dhoogra, has also warned motorists travelling on the N3 of possible thunderstorms along parts of the route.
“High traffic volumes in excess of 1700 vehicles per hour continue to be recorded in a northbound direction on the N3 Toll route. And although easing on the southern sections of the route, these conditions are expected to continue to cause congestions and delays well into this evening. A warning of severe thunderstorms is expected to impact sections of the route and may also cause additional delays,” explains Dhoogra.
