High traffic volumes expected on the N3 to KZN

High traffic volumes are expected on the N3 from early this morning until 10 o’clock as people make their way to KwaZulu-Natal for the Easter long weekend.

N3 Toll Concession chief operating officer, Thania Dhoogra, says late yesterday afternoon, over 1100 vehicles were passing through De Hoek toll plaza in Gauteng per hour.

She says traffic volumes are expected to pick up again from 4 o’clock this morning.

Dhoogra has warned that the risk of crashes increases when traffic volumes are high and visibility is poor.

She says, “N3TC appeals to road users to be even more alert and vigilant on the road, especially during the evening and early morning hours when visibility is reduced, and fatigue may set in, increasing the risk of crashes. Please drive defensively, keep your headlights turned on, increase your following distances, make sure you’re buckled up, and take regular rest breaks”.
