High traffic at Beitbridge as BMA processes surge of travelers

The Border Management Authority (BMA), at Beitbridge border post in Musina, Limpopo, says it’s processing high volumes of travelers, including trucks, at the port-of-entry.

BMA commander in the northern region, Ntakuseni Lambani, acknowledges the high number of trucks coming from the South African side, saying it’s due to inadequate parking space on the Zimbabwean side of the border.

Lambani, however, says they’ve deployed manpower to deal with the situation.

“When we process on our side, we got to also have capacity for the drive to receive what we are processing. So, what we have picked up is that on their side they don’t have enough parking space and therefore, at some point they stop cars moving into their country, and that frustrates us a lot because when they stop processing the trucks, then there’s a build of traffic  trucks on the N1. However, at the border, we have deployed additional resources from all stakeholders, including BMA.”
