Heavy rain pouring down the roof.
The South African Weather Service has forecast higher than normal rainfall for several parts of the country in the coming summer months.
Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, the Free State and North West are likely to experience heavier rainfall, which could result in localised flooding in some areas.
Forecaster Tokelo Chiloane says this is due to the La Niña phenomenon.
“The latest seasonal forecast…, which was released on the 30th of September, does indicate that we’re gonna be in what you call a weak La Niña season, and La Niña for the eastern and central parts of the country is defined as above normal rainfall with below or normal temperatures.”
“Going forward now, it does have an indication that for Gauteng province, KwaZulu-Natal, Free State, North West and Escarpment, Highveld of Mpumalanga as well as the Western Bushveld of Limpopo has an indication that there will be above normal rainfall.”
