The N4 toll road in Komatipoort near the Lebombo Border Post separating the country from Mozambique in Mpumalanga remains congested by travellers rushing to cross the border for the festive holidays.
According to the Border Management Authority (BMA), the number of travellers crossing the Lebombo Border Post has declined compared to the same period last year.
Close to 25 000 travellers crossed the border, compared to the 26 000 that was recorded last year.
BMA and police management are in the area to conduct an oversight visit for the Safer Festive Operations at the border.
