Gwarube to address Policy Dialogue on Entrepreneurship Education

Department of Basic Education Minister Siviwe Gwarube will address a European Union delegation tomorrow on the unemployment crisis in South Africa.

The Inaugural Policy Dialogue on Entrepreneurship Education event will take place in Johannesburg, where various stakeholders and investors will hear the minister’s plan to embed entrepreneurship education into the basic education system.

The European Union’s Education for Employability Sector Budget Support Programme, in partnership with the department, aims to address ways to improve the education system to empower learners after high school.

Gwarube will  also shed light on the need to empower learners with skills and mindset to succeed in the working world, especially as technology keeps evolving.

“She will speak to the department’s broader Three-Streams Curriculum Model, the development of a national entrepreneurship education policy, and the strategic imperative to address South Africa’s high youth unemployment through inclusive, innovative education pathways,” says the department’s spokesperson, Elijah Mhlanga.
