The case against one of the women accused of abducting two babies from the Dora Nginza Hospital on Tuesday in Gqeberha has been postponed until the 30th of May for a formal bail application.

The state withdrew charges against the second accused in the matter.

The two women made a brief appearance in the New Brighton Magistrate’s Court.

Siphokazi Fumile’s family expressed gratitude that she has been released.

A neighbor, Ntombokuqala Majelimane, says they could not believe Siphokaze would be involved.

“I did not feel well from the onset. I knew Siphokazi very well and she did not commit crime. I supported her mother from day one.  I looked for her in various places and we heard the news that she will appear in court. It was difficult for the family to adjust, but we came to court today as community members to support her,” says Majelimane.
