Limpopo Transport MEC Violet Mathye says they will begin the process of identifying bodies from the Hoedspruit crash tomorrow.
Thirteen people died in a collision between a delivery van and a taxi yesterday in Hoedspruit in Limpopo.
She says among those killed included a child.
Mathye says, “One of the occupants was a young child who was going to school in Hoedspruit because it was a sports day yesterday. Late in the evening, I received the number and names of all those that perished in the accident, the 13 of them.”
“The police and the hospital management are going to continue with the identification of the bodies through the DNA, so we’ll be waiting for the report from the hospital management, as well as the law enforcement. All the processes of identifying who are those people are going to be starting tomorrow because those people burnt beyond recognition the 13 of them.”

Pinetown crash
Thirteen people have been injured, with injuries ranging from minor to critical, following a taxi crash on the N3 Pinetown-bound, near the Hammersdale off-ramp.
Police are investigating the cause of the accident.
Ambulances and Advanced Life Support (ALS) Paramedics spokesperson Garrith Jamieson says, “Paramedics arrived on scene to find multiple casualties with various injuries and immediately called for more Ambulances and Advanced Life Support Paramedics. A triage was set up by first responders.”
Jamieson says, “A total of 13 people had sustained various injuries and once stabilised on the scene all of the patients were transported to various hospitals for the further care that they required. At this stage the events leading up to the crash are not clear however there is a video of the incident circulating on social media.”
