This emerged during a media briefing led by Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi and Basic Education Minister Siviwe Gwarube at Sebokeng in the Vaal.
Twelve learners were killed when a scholar transport minibus they were travelling in along the Golden highway near Vanderbijlpark collided with a heavy-duty truck on Monday. Three others are still in hospital.
The minibus driver has been arrested and will be charged with twelve counts of culpable homicide and reckless and negligent driving.
Lesufi says psycho-social support will also be offered to the bereaved families.
“And our assistance is categorised in three forms. The first one was visits, which will continue today. The second one is counselling, which we have requested the Department of Social Development and various institutions that have donated this kind of service to continue to provide this service. And the third one is funerals,” says Lesufi.
