A Gift of the Givers team gives aid to residents of the Thabo Mbeki Informal Settlement in Mthatha that have been severely affected by the recent floods in this image captured on 13 June 2025.
Gift of the Givers teams will launch full-scale humanitarian operations at Saldanha Bay on the Cape West Coast today after flooding submerged the entire Middlespos Informal Settlement, affecting hundreds of structures.
Spokesperson Ali Sablay says they are currently responding to various calls for assistance across the Western Cape due to the weather.
Sablay says their first urgent appeals were received after almost 1 000 residents were left displaced in Lwandle and Nomzamo.
He says appeals have since poured in from several areas, including Khayelitsha, Gugulethu, Philippi, Mitchells Plain and Nyanga.
Sablay says relief efforts will also continue across the Cape Metro.
