Gauteng Safety Department hits 84% target, crime drops

The Gauteng Department of Community Safety has achieved 84% of it’s planned targets for the 2024/25 financial year compared to the previous year, resulting in a significant decrease in crime across the province.

The report shows steady progress in strengthening oversight, improving law-enforcement capacity and deepening community safety initiatives. The Department says it will continue to intensify integrated policing efforts  and this includes strengthening partnerships with law enforcement agencies and private security, and intensifying community-driven safety initiatives.

Spokesperson, Ofentse Morwane says their  commitment is to strive to ensure good governance and accountability on safety matters for the people of Gauteng.

“Critical to our work is to strengthen police oversight and improve law enforcement capacity and intensify community safety initiatives, but very importantly, we need to improve on integrated and coordinated policing efforts and strengthen partnerships with law enforcement agencies and private security to improve safety in our communities.”
