The Gauteng Education Department has called on parents and guardians not to panic about securing placement for their children.
MEC Matome Chiloane has launched the 2026 online admissions system for Grades 1 and 8 in Garankuwa in northern Pretoria.
By eight o’clock this morning, when the system went live, over 40 000 parents were already in the queue.
Chiloane maintains that the system is fully equipped to handle the high volume of applications.
“But we’ve also advanced and our improved our system as well. It can take up to to 50,000 applications 10 minutes. So, it will not crash.”
