Various Gauteng MECs will visit schools across the province on Wednesday morning. This is part of the Provincial government’s 2025 Back-to-School campaign as schools re-open for the new academic year.

They will assess the school’s readiness for the year and engage learners and teachers on challenges affecting the schooling environment.

Gauteng Education MEC Matome Chiloane will visit Braamfischerville Primary School in Soweto, while MEC Maile will be at Freedom Park Secondary School in Devland.

Johannesburg Mayor Dada Morero and Gauteng Health MEC Nomantu Nkomo-Ralehoko will visit four schools in Pimville in Soweto.

Gauteng Health spokesperson Motalatale Modiba says, “The purpose of these visits is to engage learners and teachers on challenges affecting the schooling environment. These range from critical issues such as teenage pregnancy and drug abuse to the state of school infrastructure which have an impact on learner progress.”
