Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi delivers the eulogy at the funeral of three of the 14 learners killed in last Monday’s Vanderbijlpark crash.
Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi says the provincial government has the duty to fix all that seems to be wrong in the province’s scholar transport sector.
Lesufi emphasised that the road to school should not be turned into the road to the graveyard for learners using scholar transport services.
He addressed mourners in Sebokeng during the joint funeral service for the learners who died in Monday’s road crash that claimed the lives of 14 learners in Vanderbijlpark.
“We can’t, Deputy Minister of Transport, have the situation where the road to school must lead our children to graveyards. We can’t have a situation where, instead of issuing our children with graduation certificates, we give them death certificates. This must come to an end. For us to have this to come to an end, it means all of us must work together and must be focused on the task at hand.”
