Gauteng gov. praises police for arresting suspects in Warras shooting

The Gauteng government has thanked the police for their efforts to bring down those suspected of fatally shooting media personality Warrick “DJ Warras” Stock.

Police say two people who were taken in for questioning have now been arrested and charged with murder.

Three unknown men were captured on CCTV opening fire on DJ Warras and then fled the scene.

Gauteng Provincial Government spokesperson, Elijah Mhlanga is appealing for those with more information to assist police.

“Early indications are that Warras was killed for the work that he was doing in the City of Johannesburg. We still appeal to members of the public to make additional information available to the investigating team so that they are able to put together a very strong case to ensure that we secure a conviction and that those that are found guilty are sent to jail for a very long time.”

Gauteng Police spokesperson Brenda Muridili says the duo is expected in court on Wednesday.

“The two persons of interest that the police brought in during the early hours of 22 december 2025 have been detained and will be charged with the murder of DJ Warras. They are due to appear before the Johannesburg Magistrates Court on Wednesday 24 December 2025. The search for more suspects is underway as investigations continue.”

DJ Warras will be laid to rest tomorrow in Johannesburg.
