SAPS making an arrest.
Over 400 suspects were arrested in Gauteng during the police’s Operation Shanela at the weekend.
Arrests were made across various districts, including the City of Tshwane, where 98 suspects were arrested, 66 in the City of Johannesburg, 132 in Ekurhuleni, 64 in the Sedibeng District Municipality, and 95 in the West Rand District Municipality.
Over 3 000 people and about 1 000 vehicles were searched across the province.

Traffic Police spokesperson Sello Maremane says the Gauteng Traffic Police commends officials for arresting suspects who disregard the law.
“The police are continuously dealing with prevalent crimes which include driving under the influence of alcohol, trading without a liquor license and gender-based violence (GBV) amongst others,” says Maremane.
Maremane further reveals that those who are found guilty will face full might of the law.
