Scientists from the African Union Development Agency says they believe scientific innovation in agricultural research can help combat malnutrition.
Scientists have joined policy makers for the G20 meeting of chief agricultural scientists in Polokwane, Limpopo.
The aim of the annual meeting is to deliberate on ways of promoting research that can lead to sustainable farming.
Scientist Ildephonse Musafiri says the discussions will assist in transforming agriculture.
“CADAP is the Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Program, in Kampala we want to move in terms of food systems.
We need to increase productivity, we need to increase finance for agriculture, leverage on youth and women to make sure they are an integral part of agri transformation, fighting malnutrition.
These things will require knowledge, will require science, and will require evidence.”
