Fuel price adjustments expected this month

Motorists can expect a mixed picture when government announces the new fuel price adjustments for this month.

The preliminary data from the Central Energy Fund indicate a decrease of around 7c a liter for 93 unleaded petrol, and a small increase of 3c for 95 unleaded petrol.

The Automobile Association is warning that adjustments to industry margins could see prices to both fuels increase.

AA Spokesperson, Eleanor Mavimbela says apart from the margin adjustments, the mixed outlook for fuel prices can be attributed to fluctuations in the international product prices of unleaded fuel since mid-November.

“It’s probable that the annual margin adjustments could also have a negative impact on the expected increase of around 48c/l to diesel, also pushing this fuel price higher. The expected increase of around 43c/l for illuminating paraffin will also not come as good news for users of this fuel in December,” says Mavimbela.
