FS probes nepotism claims at Rosenhof Special Needs School

The Free State Education Department says it has established a team to investigate allegations made against the principal of Rosenhof Special Needs School, in Bloemfontein. This follows a memorandum submitted by former and current workers, accusing the principal of nepotism.

Department spokesperson Howard Ndaba says some of the complaints have been raised before and will be reviewed as part of the investigation.

Ndaba says due process must be followed and no action can be taken against the principal based on allegations alone. He says any decision including possible disciplinary action will depend on the outcome of the investigation.

“We have submitted the memorandum, which is a list of grievances outlining their complaints. The Director in the Mangaung Metro has established a team that will investigate all the allegations. Remember, this is not the first time they have complained about the principal, so we need to check whether issues that were previously resolved are still part of this memorandum. However, we understand that at the core of the agreement is the removal of the principal. But we must remember that this is a constitutional country, and you cannot simply take a decision based on allegations,” Ndaba adds.
