FS Premier flags officials’ role in undocumented Zimbabwean migration

Free State Premier, Maqueen Letsoha-Mathae, believes officials might be involved in allowing undocumented Zimbabwean nationals to pass through the border and other provinces undetected.

This comes after a group of 32 undocumented Zimbabwean nationals, including young children and infants, were detained after the bus they were travelling in was stopped on the N1, near Bloemfontein.

Mathae has issued a stern warning that more effort should be made to deal with cross-border and toll gates.

Mathae has confirmed that the children were taken for check-ups at the National Hospital before they were handed over to a place of safety.

“Why does it have to happen in the Free State? How did they pass these other areas? From Limpopo, these people were not stopped by any other province. We really need to work hard,” says Letsoha-Mathae.
