Hundreds of frustrated parents and guardians have started queuing outside the district office of the Gauteng Education Department in Morningside, Johannesburg.
They are seeking school placements for their children.
The parents and guardians say that the department’s online application system is not serving its purpose.
Over four-thousand learners are yet to be placed in Gauteng schools.
The parents say they applied last year. This is what they had to say.
“I came here yesterday, today I’m here again and hopefully we will get an answer or direction. I came here at around 5 O’clock,” says one parent.
Anothger parent says they came at 2 O’clock
“I applied on the same day when the system was opened. Since to date, the status on my application hasn’t changed, its still being processed. I feel like an irresponsible parent, because the first thing that my daughter asks me every day is that have I found a space for her, so its frustrating and disappointing at the same time.”
