Families and friends have paid tribute to the late Olorato Mongale during a prayer service at her home in Bloemfontein.

Speaker after speaker comforted Mongale’s family and instilled hope.

30-year-old Mongale’s body was recovered on Sunday in Johannesburg after she had left to go on a date with an unknown man.

Her friends started the search for Olorato two hours after she was picked by her date when their phone calls to her went unanswered.

Those who attended the Friday prayer service had this to say

“I am not going to take up too long. But just to say it to the family, because even I standing here to not understand the depth of their pain, but want to say to them, we don’t always know what we ought to pray for. But the Holy Spirit, through our moaning’s and our groanings is able to hear, is able to hear these prayers and translate it to the Lord.”

Meanwhile, the friend who was visited in his flat by Philangenkosi Makhanya, the main suspect in the murder of Johannesburg student Mongale, has spoken in detail about the last hours of Makhanya’s life.

Makhanya was killed in a shoot-out with police in the early hours of Friday morning at the apartment in Amanzimtoti on the south of Durban.
