[FILE IMAGE]: Suspect being handcuffed and arrested.
A 35-year-old man has appeared before the Botshabelo Magistrates’ Court in the Free State in connection with the murder of his elderly father.
Lefu Phosholi was arrested this past Saturday after being sought by police since his disappearance on the 2nd of July.
It is alleged that the deceased, Sekoati Phosholi, was also last seen on that same day while on his way to withdraw his old age grant.
The body of Phosholi was discovered six days later. The deceased was found in a shallow grave that was hidden under two couches that were stacked on top of each other inside his house.
Police Spokesperson, Thabo Covane, says police received a tip off about Phosholi’s hideout at a house at JB Mafora in Bloemfontein.
Covane says the case has been postponed to 28 July for a formal bail application.
The police have been looking for the suspect since last week Thursday.
