A fourth suspect has been arrested in connection with the killing of two police officers from Qwaqwa in the eastern Free State, on January 4.
Constables Sipho Mohapi and Gedione Motloung of Namahadi Visible Policing in Qwaqwa were fatally shot while responding to a house robbery in Phuthaditjhaba.
The latest suspect, a 29-year-old South African citizen, was arrested in Mangaung village in Qwaqwa yesterday.
He was found in possession of a firearm, ammunition, a balaclava and a cellphone.
Hawks spokesperson Katlego Mogale says the other three accused including one Lesotho national have already appeared in court for the murders of the two police officers, house robbery and possession of unlicenced firearm.
Authorities have commended communities for assisting the investigating team in bringing forward the perpetrators to face the mighty arm of the law.
