Fourth accused in Limpopo insurance-fraud killings to apply for bail

A fourth accused in the alleged insurance-related killings in Limpopo is expected to apply for bail in the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.

Johannes Shokane is the brother of his alleged accomplices, former police sergeant Rachel Kutumela and Anna Shokane.

The third accused is Kutumela’s daughter, Flora Shokane.

They are all accused of killing nine people and claiming about R10 million in insurance pay-outs.

The brother is facing 25 charges, including nine counts of murder, money laundering and receiving proceeds of unlawful activities.

He was remanded in custody for a bail application, following his arrest two weeks ago.

He will later join his siblings and niece for the trial in October next year.
