Free State police seize khat, crystal meth and mandrax valued at R580 000, as well as cash.
Four suspects are expected to appear in the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court on Monday, following a series of high-impact police operations over the weekend in Heidedal.
During the operation, the police confiscated drugs with an estimated street value of R715 000.
Police spokesperson Mahlomola Kareli says several people were arrested at a house suspected of being a drug outlet where wrapped plastic bags containing “Rock” (Cocaine), along with an undisclosed amount of cash, were seized.
“The investigation led members to a second address linked to the first suspect. There, they encountered a 36-year-old male. A comprehensive search of the premises uncovered a massive stockpile of various drugs such as Khat, Crystal meth and Mandrax, with a combined street value of R580,000, as well as a significant, undisclosed sum of cash.”
All four suspects are currently detained at Heidedal SAPS. They face charges ranging from possession to dealing in illicit drugs and are expected to appear in the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court in due course.
Acting Provincial Commissioner, Major-General Apaphia Modise, has lauded the Anti-Gang Unit for their vigilance and quick response to community intelligence.
