Four suspects killed during shootout with police in KwaMashu, KZN

Four suspects wanted on charges of robbery, murder and extortion have been killed in a shootout with police on Duffs Road in KwaMashu, north of Durban.

KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson Paul Magwaza says the suspects’ vehicle was driving on Lark Road, heading towards Dumisani Makhaye Drive when it was intercepted by police.

Magwaza says suspects opened fire when they saw the police and officers retaliated.

“During the shootout, three suspects were fatally wounded. A search in the vicinity of the crime scene led to the discovery of the body of the fourth suspect, who had attempted to flee but had sustained gunshot wounds. The suspects were found in possession of three firearms. No police officer was injured during the shootout. The suspects will be profiled in order to see if they are linked to other crimes. The suspects were wanted for numerous murders, robberies and extortion cases in eThekwini District.”
