FILE | An accident scene
Four people have been killed in a crash involving four bakkies on the N2 at Kwambonami on the KwaZulu-Natal north coast.
RTI Spokesperson Sindi Msimang says a car was trying to overtake another when it collided head-on with oncoming traffic.
She says the road is closed to traffic while the crash scene is being cleared.
“Four people lost their lives on scene and two were taken to hospital and are in a critical condition. It is alleged that one of the bakkies was traveling on the southbound lane, overtook on a double barrier line and collided with the vehicles that were traveling on the opposite direction. The scene is still active. The traffic officers have opened the shoulder lane to traffic. They are also using stop-and-go procedure.”
