Four dead in fatal crash on R38 road in Mpumalanga

In Mpumalanga, four people died following a head-on collision between two vehicles on the R38 road between Hendrina and Carolina. Safety, Security, and Liaison spokesperson Moeti Mmusi says the investigation into the crash is underway.

He has called on motorists to drive with caution as the rain persists in most parts of the province.

“The victims include two passengers and a driver in one vehicle and the driver of a sedan who was the sole occupant in the vehicle at the time of the crash. There were no further injuries reported in the incident and all the victims died at the scene.”

Level five warnings for disruptive rains were in place for today in KwaZulu-Natal, the North West and the Free State. Emergency services in Durban say the persistent rain has kept them busy with multiple crashes reported ALS paramedics spokesperson Garrith Jamieson.

“Just after 1 am this morning, a single vehicle rolled numerous times on the M4 North Bound near the Broadway offramp, leaving both driver and passenger severely entrapped in the vehicle. Also, just after 4 am, a vehicle rolled on the N2 South near Chesterville, leaving six people with multiple injuries. ALS Paramedics attended a fatal crash on Inanda Road in the Waterfall Area. Two vehicles collided head-on on leaving one person deceased and four Patients with serious injuries. And around 09:30 am. Paramedics responded to the M13 Durban Bound near Gillits for a vehicle which had left the M13. Three occupants, including a child, had sustained various injuries and once stabilized on the scene the injured were transported to a nearby Hospital. Please drive carefully and leave a little earlier to reach your destination on time. If you can rather delay your trip,” says Jamieson.
