Former Mpumalanga officer gets 14 years for sexual assault on her son


The Middelburg High Court in Mpumalanga has sentenced a former female police officer to 14 years in prison for sexually assaulting her 12-year-old son in 2020.

The accused has been convicted for sexual assault and production and possession of child pornography.

It was revealed in court that the 42-year-old mother experienced personal problems and acted on instructions of a traditional healer, who claimed the abuse would remove evil spirits.

NPA spokesperson Monica Nyuswa, “The Middelburg High Court has sentenced a female former police officer to 14 years imprisonment for the sexual assault of her minor son in 2020. The accused has been convicted on three counts namely, sexual assault, production of child pornography and possession of child pornography. The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) remains steadfast in its commitment to combating domestic and sexual violence, particularly cases involving vulnerable victims, and will continue to pursue justice with diligence and compassion.”
