Former Lepelle Northern Water CEO to face corruption charges


The former CEO of the Lepelle Northern Water Board in Limpopo and six co-accused will today appear in the Polokwane Specialised Commercial Crimes Court.

They are facing charges of fraud and corruption related to a R45 million tender.

Phineas Legodi and co-accused, who are members of the bid evaluation committee, allegedly irregularly awarded the tender to a company belonging to businessman Matome Sefalafala also an accused in the case.

“Legodi together with four members of a bid evaluation committee, Ngwako Moseamedi, Gumani Gangashe, Vusi Mhlongo and Mpho Chokolo allegedly irregular awarded a 45-million rand tender for waste collection. The accused include two companies. Legodi and his six co-accused, including two companies, face charges of corruption, fraud and theft. The accused are out on bail.”
