The case against former Eskom senior manager, France Hlakudi, has been postponed to January 2025 for further trial.

He appeared before the Pretoria Regional Court yesterday on tax fraud charges amounting to approximately R30 million.

In the period between 2015 and 2018, it’s alleged that contractors and subcontractors to Eskom paid money to his three companies.

Hlakudi also faces corruption charges amounting to R1.4 billion with 11 others on the upgrade of Eskom’s Kusile Power Station in Mpumalanga.

Investigating Directorate Spokesperson, Henry Mamothame, says: “He’s expected back in court next year in January when trial resumes. He is also expected to be back at the Johannesburg High Court on 3 December 2024 wherein he is facing corruption charges with Michael Lomas and ten others for the R1.4 billion that was meant for the upgrade of Eskom’s Kusile Power Station in Mpumalanga between 2014 and 2017.”
