Former City of Cape Town Member of the Mayoral Committee for Human Settlements Malusi Booi and 28 co-accused are expected to
appear in the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court today.
The 28 include alleged crime boss Ralph Stanfield and his wife.
The group is facing charges including money laundering, racketeering, fraud and violations under the Prevention of Organised Crime Act.
The case relates to a tender amounting over R1-billion in the city.
The State alleges that Booi, a former DA mayoral committee member and the co-accused are part of a criminal enterprise that Stanfield leads.
Booi is out on bail of R250 000.
Stanfield and his wife remain in custody.
