Focus on firearms recovered in Lusikisiki mass murder case

Proceedings at the Mthatha High Court sitting in Lusikisiki, in the Eastern Cape, focused on the recovery of firearms linked to the killing of 18 people at Ngobozana village last year.

A crime scene expert, Captain Ntobeko Mabungela, took the stand to testify that he found firearms at accused number six, Mawethu Nondlembu’s homestead at Ntlezi village in Flagstaff.

Mabungela testified that he found three automatic rifles, a shotgun and four rifle magazines hidden in the ceiling board of Nondlembu’s home.

Four magazines with a total of 82 cartridges were also found inside the house. He says all the items collected from the crime scene were sent for ballistic testing.

The court adjourned after the state failed to provide evidence on the testimony given by the crime scene expert.

The case continues tomorrow for cross examination.
