Budget airline FlySafair and its cabin crew will start a mediation process in a bid to resolve a wage negotiation impasse.
Parties remain at odds after wage talks broke down, leading to a lockout of certain staff.
The airline offered a 5.7% increase and 7.5% annual bonus, but the South African Cabin Crew Association rejected the deal.
FlySafair says flights will continue with minimal disruption.
President of the South African Cabin Crew Association, Advocate Chris Shabangu says, “We were supposed to do an inspection today, a picketing inspection today with Safair, well fortunately that has been turned to a conciliation day, which means that we have a meeting now with Safair at 10 o’clock to try and get to some kind of resolution through a mediation process and a mediated meeting.”
