Plane at an airport
Flights at the Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport have slowly resumed operations after delays left passengers frustrated and stranded on Friday.
Some passengers had to cancel their journeys due to the problem. Other airports, including Pietermaritzburg, Richards Bay and Mthatha, were also affected.
A statement issued by Airlink said the disruptions were caused by South Africa’s Air Traffic Navigation Services, or ATNS, failing to maintain the validity of instrument flight procedures.
According to the statement, flights can only be permitted when all the safety regulations are met.
