Five suspects nabbed following jewellery store robbery in Brooklyn

Five suspects have been arrested following a robbery of a jewellery store in Brooklyn, Tshwane, earlier on Wednesday.

The suspects aged between 32 and 38, were arrested after hijacking a vehicle following the robbery and were traced and tracked down by private security and police in the Pretoria CBD.

One security officer and three suspects sustained gunshot wounds during the incident and were transported to hospital for medical care.

Gauteng Police Spokesperson, Tintswalo Sibeko says, “At approximately 09:50 am, five suspects targeted a jewellery store in a local shopping mall. One suspect posed as a customer before forcibly gaining entry. While one suspect damaged display cases, accomplices removed jewellery from the premises. The suspects then hijacked a vehicle to flee the scene. A coordinated response by the SAPS Tshwane District Stabilisation Team, in collaboration with private security personnel, led to a pursuit and the suspects being intercepted and arrested in Pretoria Central CBD.”
