Five Sassa officials fired for fraud in Joburg

Five  South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) officials have been fired for fraud and corruption.

The action follows disciplinary processes during which eight officials were arrested last year.

Three cases are still pending.

The officials were based at the SASSA Johannesburg office, which was temporarily closed but has since been reopened.

The Agency’s spokesperson Paseka Letsatsi says they will continue their fight against corruption.

Letsatsi says, “Fraud and corruption will not be tolerated, accountability is non-negotiable and any official found guilty will face decisive consequences, reaffirming the agency’s commitment to protecting public resources.”
