Accident scene for illustrative purposes
A family in Mokopane, Limpopo, is grieving the loss of its five members in a vehicle crash on the N1.
The vehicle in which they were travelling in lost control and overturned at Ysterburg outside Mokopane. The deceased are three children and two adults.
Another family member, Flippie van Wyk, who was driving in another vehicle when the crash happened, is devastated.
“My wife was like a meter and half away; she was still warm I could feel the few heartbeats but four seconds she was gone. I went to my son was lying two meters from them on the side he was still breathing the stomach was moving he was still alive and he died there. I wouldn’t think something like this will happen to me but it did.”
Meanwhile, Limpopo’s Transport MEC Violet Mathye has sent messages of condolences to the bereaved family.
“Let me pass our message of condolences to all the five people perished in the accident that happened on Friday night we are with them on this heartbreaking time please arrive where you are going safe. We know that there will be congestion already our traffic officers are on the way even our SAPS are ready to reduce whatever fatalities that could be there.”
