Five family members killed in Gingindlovu R66 collision


Five family members have been killed and 7 others seriously injured in a collision involving a bakkie and a light motor vehicle on the R66 near the Dokodweni Bridge in Gingindlovu, north of KwaZulu-Natal.

Amongst the deceased are a three-year-old and a two-month-old baby.

IPSS Medical Rescue Advanced Life Support Paramedics say among those who sustained injuries were three adults and four children, all under the age of 14.

Spokesperson Samantha Myrick says, “IPSS Medical Rescue responded to the R66 near the Dokodweni off ramp. The collision has sadly left five family members deceased. A further seven occupants sustained injuries. Patients have been stabilised on scene by IPSS Medical Rescue Advanced Life Support Paramedics before being transported to nearby facilities for further care. Our heartfelt condolences go out to the friends and family of the deceased.”
