Handcuffs police use to apprehend suspects.
Five suspects had been arrested in connection with a shooting incident in the Marikana informal settlement in Philippi on the Cape Flats.
Three men and a woman were killed on Saturday evening.
The incident is suspected to be linked to extortion.
The suspects are facing charges of murder, attempted murder and the illegal possession of firearms.
Police spokesperson, Novela Potelwa, says, “Five suspects between the ages of 25 and 35 were arrested on Monday morning by a team comprising the serious violent crime detectives and the provincial combat team for the four murders and the attempted murder that occurred in the Marikana informal settlement in Philippi East. The suspects were found with two firearms that will be tested if they were used in the commission of the crime that happened on Saturday evening.”
