Border Management Authority (BMA) has arrested five foreign nationals who were attempting to smuggle goods from the country into Zimbabwe through the Limpopo River outside Musina in Limpopo.

BMA says the suspects were arrested through the use of drones.

The drones are being used to monitor some illegal activities in and along the borderline.

Deputy assistant commissioner, Rudzani Mphilo, says they want to ensure safety and curb illegal activities at the Beitbridge port-of-entry and along the borderline.

“We were through the drone able to direct for the reaction force on the ground, made out of SANDF SAPS, to go and intercept and indeed they managed to intercept. We have just now arrested five illegal immigrants smuggling goods out of the country and they will be processed accordingly.”
