Wayne Harrison, the head of operations at the KZN Sharks Board, says that fishermen have already started netting the sardines and dragging them onshore.
“There have been large pockets of sardines preyed upon by hundreds and hundreds of sharks. These sharks have been breaching out of water, which is something quite spectacular. The surf has been a little bit high, yesterday there was a two metres plus, this morning with about one and a half to two metres strong ground swirl. The guys have already put in a net on the Port Shepstone Sands beach and they will be able to get sardines with a cast net.”
