Political analyst Professor Tinyiko Maluleke has paid tribute to the late Professor Noel Chabani Manganyi.

He says Manganyi has left a lasting legacy.

Professor Manganyi passed away at the age of 84.

Manganyi obtained his doctorate in 1970.

He had written 12 books including “Being Black in the World” and “Apartheid and the Making of a Black Psychologist”.

He was a distinguished academic, scholar, intellectual activist, psychologist, and public servant.

Maluleke says, “Professor Chabani Manganyi, born and bred in Mavambe village, his contribution and work can never be summarised in a word or two. Amongst those that studied psychology more especially Clinical Psychology, he doesn’t have much of peers in this country. He wrote 12 books that delve into how apartheid affected the mental health of black people. He really looked into the side effects of the apartheid regime on black people.”

Manganyi is being laid to rest in Johannesburg today. – Reporting by Ntinyiku Maringa and Amukelo Ngobeni
